As the Suns’ new forward settles into his life in Phoenix, he’s started frequenting one particular restaurant. “I’ve been going to Ocean 44 the last couple of weeks,” NBA star Kevin Durant told The Republic.
Brothers Jeff Mastro and Mike Mastro, their father Dennis and Scott Troilo run Prime Steak Concepts, which includes Ocean 44, Dominick Steakhouse, Steak 44 and Steak 48.
Located on Goldwater Boulevard just north of Camelback Road, Ocean 44 is a posh restaurant that offers high-quality seafood and steak in a modern setting. The restaurants was featured on Open Table’s Top 100 restaurants in the country in 2022. Its 12,000 square foot dining room seats up to 400 guests in six private dining suites, bar area and kitchen dining room, which overlooks the glass-encased kitchen.
In 2020, ESPN reported that the NBA set rules for restaurants to abide by before approving them for the teams’ dining. The restaurants needed to have a private dining area or a patio with a secure entrance and exit. At the time, it also required the staff to wear a mask and maintain six feet distance unless absolutely necessary. At the time, five Phoenix restaurants made the list: Ocean 44, North Italia, Chantico, Tomaso’s and True Food Kitchen. And Ocean 44, it seems, has remained a go-to spot for players.
