Caliente Contest
The undisputed king of electric
blues is scheduled to play to a
packed audience Friday night at
Centennial Hall.

BB King is one of the most well-
known living blues musicians in
the world, and certainly the most
famous person to ever come out
of the tiny town of Itta Bena,
Miss.

The 2000 census pegged Itta
Bena's population at about 4,000
residents living within a 1.5
square mile area.

Yet the town still managed to
make it into the 2000 Coen
brothers film, "O Brother, Where
Art Thou?"

In the movie, a notorious
gangster terrorizing the the
Deep South stops George
Clooney's character Everett and
his crew and asks them how to
get to Itta Bena.

Name the gangster and the
actor who played him for a
chance to win a set of three
cookbooks.

Veterans Day benefit at Laffs Comedy Caffe

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 11.05.2009
Christopher Cannon brings his Comics for Courage show back to Laffs Comedy Caffe to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
The show will be held on Veterans Day — appropriately, given that the message and the mission are to honor wounded veterans.
Cannon, below, who served in the Army, likes to carry out that mission behind a mic, making people laugh.
Also in the lineup: Army vet Brian Mulligan, who served during the war in Afghanistan and has performed comedy for five years; Vietnam vet Walt Maxam, a 10-year veteran of comedy; and Tucson's own Gary Hood, a Vietnam vet who has been doing comedy 35 years.
Wednesday's show starts at 7 p.m. at Laffs, 2900 E. Broadway. Tickets are $12. For reservations, call Laffs at 323-8669.
