Kate Voegele is a singer/songwriter and star of the primetime soap "One Tree Hill." And her life is, like, totally nuts.
"For my first album, I somehow scheduled my classes around recording sessions, and still got a 4.0 grade-point average," she says on her Web site. "Then I took a break from school and went on the road, but halfway through, I got offered 'One Tree Hill' completely unexpectedly. That was when life got ridiculous."
Voegele's recent release, "A Fine Mess," deals with your typical 20-something pop star issues. The first track on the album, "99 Times," is "about the different emotions you experience after finding out somebody you're close to has been feeding you a story that isn't true," she says.
OMG, do you think she's talking about Balloon Dad?
Voegele will play Club Congress on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The opening act is Green River Ordinance, a quintet from Fort Worth, Texas, that toured with "American Idol" David Cook last summer.
Tickets are $16, available at hotelcongress.com
Lots of entertainment at the Arizona State Fair
Friday is Armed Forces Day at the Arizona State Fair, which means veterans, active military and their families get in free.
It's not a bad day for a free pass.
The kids can meet their cheerful underwater pal SpongeBob SquarePants, then scoot over and catch the Paul Bunyan Lumberjack Show as the sawdust flies from two tradesmen dueling it out with chainsaws.
The nighttime entertainment on Friday is either the All-Indian Rodeo in the grandstand at 7 p.m. or the Old School Jam, featuring Stevie B., Lisa Lisa, Shannon and Trinere, at Veterans Memorial Coliseum at 8.
The fair opens daily at noon, 10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the fairgrounds, 1826 W. McDowell Road. Admission is $10 adults, $5 for kids and seniors.
